Last year the Pasco Sheriff's Office instituted a new mail policy: It outlawed sending letters in envelopes to inmates in order to reduce the contraband flow into the jails.
So now if you correspond with an inmate, you have to use a postcard.
And that's what Virginia L. Jacobs, 53, did.
She sent her husband, Robert M. Jacobs, 49, an inmate, seven postcards.
But these postcards had a little something extra on them.
An alert clerk in the jail's mail room noticed a bumpy-looking stamp. A deputy peeled the stamp back to reveal a blue powder -- which later tested positive for oxycodone, reports the St. Petersburg Times.
"I just can't do anything without you," she wrote on a postcard. "I sure do love and miss you a whole bunch."
Now Virginia Jacobs and her husband are both jailbirds.

A New Jersey father is facing trial after prosecutors say he raped and beat five of his daughters for years, leaving three of them pregnant with his children.
Aswad Ayinde will stand trial five times, once for each daughter police he say raped, beat and sometimes impregnated.
According to the Associated Press, the ex-wife of the 51-year-old man appeared in court and testified against him in a pre-trial saying that he wanted to create "pure" family bloodlines by impregnating several of his teenage daughters.
"He said the world was going to end and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen."
Prosecutors say the man beat the girls who were isolated from the outside world and home schooled, with wooden boards and steel-toed boots.
The three daughters he impregnated gave birth to a total of six children.
The AP also reports that the mother testified in court that some of the babies were delivered at home and never received birth certificates. She also said there were at least two instances where the babies who died in the home were buried without authorities being notified.
When asked why she didn't try to stop him, the wife said,
“I was afraid to ever accuse him of being demented, or being a pedophile. I knew the word but I wouldn't dare use it because it would result in a beating.”
Ayinde faces charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, lewdness, child endangerment, aggravated criminal sexual contact and criminal sexual contact.
He was originally arrested in 2006 for the crimes.
The first trial for the man is scheduled to begin in April.

Associated Press: MISSISSIPPI -- An 18-year-old Mississippi lesbian student whose school district canceled her senior prom rather than allow her to escort her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo said she got some unfriendly looks from classmates when she reluctantly returned to campus Thursday.

"My daddy told me that I needed to show them that I'm still proud of who I am," McMillen told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "The fact that this will help people later on, that's what's helping me to go on."
The district announced Wednesday it wouldn't host the April 2 prom. The decision came after the American Civil Liberties Union told officials a policy banning same-sex prom dates violated students' rights. The ACLU said the district not letting McMillen wear a tuxedo violated her free expression rights.
McMillen said she felt some hostility toward her on the Itawamba County Agricultural High School campus.
"Somebody said, 'Thanks for ruining my senior year."' McMillen said.
The school board issued a statement announcing it wouldn't host the event in Fulton, "due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events."
The statement didn't mention McMillen or the ACLU. When asked by the AP if McMillen's demand led to the cancellation, school board attorney Michele Floyd said she could only reference the statement.
"I guess they would rather do that than what's right, what's constitutionally correct," McMillen said.
Same-sex prom dates and cross-dressing are new issues for many high schools around the country, said Daryl Presgraves, a spokesman for GLSEN: Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, a Washington-based advocacy group.
"A lot of schools actually react rather than do the research and find out what the rights of these students are," said Presgraves, who was preparing to facilitate a discussion about anti-gay bullying at a National Association of Secondary School Principals meeting.
The school district had said it hoped a privately sponsored prom could be held. McMillen said if that happens, she's sure she'll be excluded.
"It's a small town in Mississippi, and it's run by an older generation with money. Most of them are more conservative and they don't agree with it," she said.
Fulton Mayor Paul Walker said he supports the school district's decision and knew of no private efforts to host the prom.
"I think the community as a whole is probably in support of the school district," Walker said of the town of about 4,000.
Itawamba County is a rural area of about 23,000 people in north Mississippi near the Alabama state line. It's near Pontotoc County, Miss., where more than a decade ago school officials were sued in federal court over their practice of student-led intercom prayer and Bible classes.
A couple of students had different reactions to the decision.
Anna Watson, a 17-year-old junior at the high school, was looking forward to the prom, especially since the town's only hotspot is the bowling alley, she said.
"I am a little bummed out about it. I guess it's a decision that had to be made. Either way someone was going to get disappointed - either Constance was or we were," Watson said. "I don't agree with homosexuality, but I can't change what another person thinks or does."
McKenzie Chaney, 16, said she wasn't planning to attend the prom, but "it's kind of ridiculous that they can't let her wear the tuxedo and it all be over with."
A Feb. 5 memo to students laid out the criteria for bringing a date to the prom, and one requirement was that the person must be of the opposite sex.
Presgraves said his organization hears about school districts that prohibit same-sex prom dates and gay-straight alliance clubs at schools. He said those kind of policies are detrimental to gay students.
"It sends a message that these students shouldn't be treated the same," Presgraves said.

Lil' Wayne was finally sentenced to a year at Rikers Island in New York today for getting caught with a loaded gun on his tour bus a couple of years ago. Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to the charge back in October, but his sentencing kept getting pushed back due to his nasty teeth situation. Wayne could be set free in 8 months if he plays nice and doesn't get into any trouble.

A small consolation for Zhang is that she says the horn doesn't cause her any pain, Bild.com reports.
While it is not known exactly what the growth is, it is said to resemble a cutaneous horn.
The funnel-shaped growths, most of which grow to only a few millimeters, can extend a number of inches, the Mail reports.
Cutaneous horns are made up of compacted keratin, the protein in hair and nails in humans, and horns, wool and feathers in animals.
The growths usually develop in fair-skinned elderly adults who have a history of significant sun exposure, but growths of this size are rare.
The growths are most common in elderly people, The Mail reports, and can sometimes be cancerous but are benign in more than half of cases.
Common causes of cutaneous horns are warts, skin cancer and actinic keratoses, patches of scaly skin that develop on skin exposed to the sun, such as the forearm, face and scalp.
Cutaneous horns can be removed surgically, but this does not treat the underlying cause.

Police in Nigeria are holding a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.
Vigilantes seized the black and white goat, saying it was an armed robber who had used black magic to transform himself into an animal to escape after trying to steal a Mazda 323.
'The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car. They pursued them. 'However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat,' Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed said.
'We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody.
'We cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into a goat,' he said.

A robber holding a gun on an Advance America cashier Monday apologized to the woman for his actions, but went ahead with his robbery even after praying with the victim.
“He said that he hated to have to do this, but times were hard and he had no choice,” cashier Angela Montez, 43, told police according to a police report.
She was working at 3:30 p.m. at Advance America’s check-cashing location at 9421 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, when the incident occurred.
Montez began crying when she realized the man’s intentions, she told police. She began to talk to the man about God, she said, telling the man he still had the opportunity to refrain from committing the crime he had planned.
The man told Montez he had a 2-year-old child to support and then asked Montez to pray with him about overcoming his hard ships. The two got down on their knees and prayed, remaining on their knees for nearly 10 minutes, police said.
In response to the woman’s kindness, the man took a bullet out of his handgun and gave it to her, according to the report, telling the clerk it was his only bullet and promising not to hurt her. He then asked Montez for a hug.
Despite the heart-to-heart talk, the man was not dissuaded from his plans. He took the woman’s cell phone, told her to go into the restroom and to refrain from calling police for 20 minutes.
The man took $20 in $5 bills from the cash drawer, according to the report — leaving the rest of the cash in the drawer.
Late Monday, police were searching for the man, whose image was captured on an in store video, said Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Sgt. Paul Thompson.

A hairdresser from the small Russian town of Meshchovsk has subdued a man who tried to rob her shop, and then raped him for three days in the utility room. The working day was coming to an end at a small hairdressers, when a man armed with a gun rushed in and demanded the day’s earnings.
The frightened employees and customers agreed to fulfill his demand, but when the shop’s owner, 28-year-old Olga, was handing the money to the robber, she suddenly knocked him down on the floor and then tied him up with a hairdryer cord. The 32-year-old Viktor couldn’t have known that the woman was a yellow belt in karate.
Olga locked the unlucky robber in the utility room and told her colleagues that she was going to call the police – but didn’t do so. When everybody left home, she approached the man and ordered him to ‘take of his underpants’ threatening to hand him over to the police if he refuses to cooperate.
After that Olga raped her hostage for three long days. She chained Viktor to the radiator with pink furry handcuffs and fed him Viagra.
She eventually let the man go , saying: “Get out of my sight!”
Viktor went straight to hospital as his genitals were injured, and then to the police.
Olga was resentful when she was taken by the police.
“What a bastard,” the woman said about Viktor. “Yes, we had sex a couple of times. But I’ve bought him new jeans, gave him food and even gave him 1.000 roubles (around $ 30) when he left.”
After that she wrote a notice to the police claiming the man tried to rob her shop.
Both Olga and Viktor may now face prison terms. The woman could be convicted of rape, while the man of robbery.
