Next to Joseline Hernandez Stevie J is the most searched person on Google from the cast of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. Why are people so keen on getting to know him? Are we all trying to decipher his gigolo ways? Trying to figure out how much money he really makes? Is he really a hit producer? Why does everyone in Atlanta want to work with Stevie J? Basically what does Stevie J really do and why are these girls so head over heels for him to embarrass themselves on national TV like this? So here’s what we uncovered about Stevie J…
A former Bad Boy producer back in the early 2000s, Stevie J appeared in a sex tape with his then-girlfriend Eve (yes the rapper). While the timeline is a little hazy, somewhere during his 15 years with Mimi Stevie J was also involved in a serious relationship with Eve. She was 19 years old when she met and began to date Stevie J. She made one of her biggest hits to date “Got A Man” to tell the world how in love she had fallen. Eve even credited Stevie J as her first love, but it didn’t take too long before she learned that the producer was cheating on her with several women. During the end of their relationship a video of Eve playing with a sex toy was released, but Stevie J insists that he wasn’t the one who leaked it. Eve said in her version of Behind The Music that it had actually been a former girlfriend who sold the tape. Stevie J also confirmed this in a recent interview, though many still believe he is responsible. That’s understandable, since it’s also rumored that Stevie J’s love of unprotected sex has caused him to burn many women not only emotionally, but physically, by transmitting STD’s. These are some of the reasons many think Eve finally left, allegedly, besides just learning of other women. Eve left before she could join Stevie J’s baby mama club, which currently holds 4 women, including Mimi.
Stevie produced 112’s lead single “Only You” featuring Notorious B.I.G., and he also produced 80% of 112′s debut album. Stevie J produced songs like “Mo Money Mo Problems”, Nasty Boy”, “Notorious Thugs” featuring Bone Thugs, “Another”, “You’re Nobody”, and “Last Day” just to name a few of Biggie’s classics. He also produced the hugely successful tribute single by Puff Daddy – “I’ll Be Missing You”. Stevie went on to win a Grammy Award for the production on the Puff Daddy & The Family album. Outside of his association with Bad Boy, he has also produced for artists including Mariah Carey, with whom he won a Grammy Award for the contribution on her album Butterfly (1997). From the album, he produced songs like “Honey” (the album’s lead single), “Breakdown” (featuring Bone Thugs-n-Harmony), “Babydoll”, and for Carey’s #1′s (1998) “I Still Believe” and “Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To)”. He also worked with Beyoncé Knowles in her song “Summertime”, Jay-Z in songs like “Ride or Die” and “Lucky Me”, Lil Wayne, Deborah Cox, Tamia, Tevin Campbell, and co-writing Eve’s “Blow Ya Mind”.
Stevie J was almost Whoopi Goldberg’s son-in-law. In 2007 was engaged to Alex Martin (daughter of Whoopi Goldberg) who he’d been dating for 6 years. But the two never made it down the aisle. (I’m guessing this was during a break from Mimi!)
Stevie J is in a Band called the Magnificent 757s with Ray Benzino of Made Men and The Source magazine fame. This explains the rap moguls somewhat random appearances on “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta.”
The money Stevie J is generating from ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta‘ may have little to no shelf life when it comes to being stored in the producer’s pockets. Those reality television wages are being garnished by the government before going straight into the pockets of his first baby momma (who birthed two of Stevie J’s children). Don’t believe me.. Ask Joseline Hernandez. Here’s the drop: “Stevie J. got like four kids, and he don’t pay shit. His first baby momma knew he was going to star on ‘Love and Hip Hop Atlanta‘, so she reported it to the authorities. Now, all of Steve’s money is going to child support. A lot of entertainers have child support and tax problems. If Erica was smart, she would have done the same with Lil Scrappy.”
