Just when it seems as though the New York Knicks were moving towards the right direction, the organization once again takes a major step back by not matching Houston Rockets offer to former guard Jeremy Lin. Lin officially rejoined the Rockets Tuesday night after the New York Knicks declined to match the three-year, $25 million offer sheet he signed with Houston.

The Knicks declined to comment on their decision not to match the offer sheet. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey used his Twitter account to welcome Lin: “Welcome to Houston @JLin7! We plan to hang on this time.” Jeremy Lin followed that tweet with his own, “extremely excited and honored to be a Houston Rocket again!!” Jeremy Lin mentioned the word “again” in his tweet because he was a former Rocket, and most people do not even remember that including the teams perennial star Kevin Martin.

He states, “Everyone knew his story and how it came alive, but it started in Houston with no one really even knowing he was there”. He continues by saying, “I don’t remember him at all from training camp. It’s going to be kind of funny. Even though he’s been there for us before, it feels like we are getting a new player.” The Rockets waived Lin just before the start of last season and he went on to become one of sports’ biggest stories during his short tenure with the Knicks.

Lin became the Knicks’ starting point guard after injuries to teammates forced him into the lineup. He led New York to seven straight victories and earned a pair of Sports Illustrated covers and praise from President Obama. His stunning stretch included a 38 point performance against the Los Angeles Lakers and a game-winning 3-pointer at Toronto. “Linsanity,” thus was born and the whole world began to show interest in the Knicks organization once again until Lin’s season ended with a knee injury. The Knicks had the perfect opportunity to capitalize on Lin’s short success, however because of the luxury tax penalty, they decided to let go one player who made them important and relevant again.

Carmelo Anthony has not done anything special since coming to New York. I will go as far as to say that Lin’s short success was far more greater and impressive than anything that Carmelo has brought to the Knick’s organization thus far. I understand the organization still has high hopes for Anthony, but what they need to realize is that Anthony is done and has played to his highest capability and he will only start to decline from here on now. Basketball is a team sport and Carmelo Anthony is a selfish player therefore get rid of him and bring “Linsanity” back.

If you not fond of the fact that the Knicks got rid of Jeremy Lin then let it be known spitters, if you agree then go ahead and also state your comments and opinions below.
