When you think about Christian Louboutin shoes what are the two things that come to mind? Of course the fact its very expensive for starters; the second thing they’re known for is their iconic red soles! These red bottoms do well in bringing out the sophistication and sexy in any woman who wears them, for any fashion loving woman, these red soles are a must have. However for the woman who want these iconic red soles but can’t afford them are seriously taking matters into their own hands.
As the Telegraph reports, sales of glossy red paint have risen dramatically in just one year. U.K chain Homebase store claims it’s because women are painting their own shoe soles red. One Homebase store in UK mentioned to the Telegraph, “they have also asked staff for tips on how to paint on leather or rubber.” How to paint leather or rubber? What a mess! For the women who thinks that painting their soles are too messy, these Louboutin crazed women would then go for stickers. Rosso Solini founded by teen entrepreneur Tara Haughton sells waterproof red stickers that stick to the bottom of non-designer heels; fulfilling the dreams of a group of Louboutin loving penny-pinching British women for the low price of $15.
Christian Louboutin is not the one to be played with. When Imitators such as Yves Saint Laurent tried putting red bottoms on designer shoes that weren’t the Louboutin brand, of course Christian took legal action in having red soles trademarked.
Hopefully Christian Louboutin doesn’t catch up to these thrifty Louboutin crazed British women clearing out the U.K chain Homebase stores for red paint, otherwise things could really get ugly. Just as he shut down Yves Saint Laurent through legal battles he can eat these women alive.
Is it gratifying to imitate a designer brand, when you know its not real anyway? What’s the point? Well I guess that’s how far some women would go for their Louboutin obsession. Spitters, and all the fashion forward out there what do you think about this?
