Maya Angelou said “Dare to let your dreams reach beyond you”, a very strong statement we all should carry within us. Every dream starts as a thought, however a little courage and persistence will of course go a long way. Once the dream that started off as a mustard seed is well nourished , something spectacular is born and it’s at that moment one can truly become powerful beyond measure.
There is no greater accomplishment than following your dreams and becoming your passion especially when it’s so easy to be discouraged. It takes diligence and a vision to see through barriers that are set ahead. Anything is possible and Sophia Domeville is a living example.
Sophia Domeville, a studio arts graduate from The College of New Rochelle saw her vision and followed her heart. Sophia took her passion for the arts to another level while also following her mission in sparking the minds of others to follow their passion as well.
As an abstract expressionist Sophia engages her fans with canvases of emotions expressing her journey as a woman, a friend, a fighter, an artist and most of all a leader. Through her experiences she’s been able to make collections of masterpieces to share with the world.
Sophia also known as Ms. Phia is the CEO of Ms. Phia Presents, a New York based event planning boutique. Ms. Phia Presents conducts various artist showcases promoting the love for art through art based socials and non profit events. Ms. Phia is also the associate director of public relations & Internal affairs for a non- profit organization, herDIVAspot. HerDIVAspot educates and encourages young girls everywhere to embrace self improvement and empowerment.
Sophia’s recent project, “HerART fundraiser”, is an art exhibition tour showcasing a collection of her work, known as “My Soliloquy of Chaos”. The HerART fundraiser in conjunction with HerDIVAspot organization, shares her journey of following her dreams while making a difference in our unstable world through also serving her community. Through art she makes it possible to see society through her eyes as a strong Haitian woman constantly redefining beauty in various images and hues . Domeville notes, “…by using abstract painting I develop a world of raw emotions”. The “HerART” fundraiser was held at Akwa Modern Unisex grooming and gallery in Brooklyn, NY this past Thursday and was a complete success. The proceeds will go out to conducting empowerment programs mentoring young ladies to be financially literate, socially rounded, and spiritually grounded. Her next art exhibition tour is Saturday, July.7th, at the Vine and Branches Wine bar in Brooklyn NY. Doors open at 8pm and all donations will go out to Autism speaks.
While sharing a piece of her world through artistic expression, she gives back to her community. In doing so, she has become prominent person in her community and is now a nominee for “The Art” award at http://blackcelebrationawards.com/art-nominees.
