Say what you want about Shaunie O’Neal but she is certainly taking the Basketball Wives franchise and turning it into an empire (using her last name as an assist no doubt). With a spin-off already underway “Eve and Ocho” Shaunie has teamed with Fox Searchlight and Tracey Edmonds to tell a story loosely based on her life with Shaquille O’Neal.

The film will revolve around a young woman who moves to Miami with her newly signed NBA husband. It will focus on her meeting new friends, dealing with infidelity, lying, fame and jealousy.

Edmonds told Variety, “The beauty of a feature film is that we’ll have the ability to dig much deeper into the stories and characters that come from this very colorful world and create a very juicy action packed narrative”. I’m not sure about this one Fox Searchlight already gets a C rating with me for some of the movies they have been working on as of late. I’ll go ahead and predict this will be a straight to DVD movie.

Spitters, if this does hit theaters will you be shelling out $11 to watch a film “loosely based” on Shaunie O’Neal’s life? Or is she just working every angle of the basketball wives phenomenon.
