George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who says he was acting in self-defense when he fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Sanford, Florida, has been charged with second-degree murder, special prosecutor Angela Corey announced Wednesday.

Zimmerman turn himself in earlier in an undisclosed location, to avoid the media and safety reasons.

For weeks, Trayvon Martin’s parents have demanded an arrest in their 17-year-old son’s shooting death. His mother, Sybrina Fulton, said earlier Wednesday, “I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that justice will be served.”

2nd degree charge means a minimum of 25 years or as much as a life sentence, if Zimmerman is convicted. We all have to continue to press Florida officials to properly prosecute this case so that all evidence is uncovered and presented to the jury.

As great as it is that he’s FINALLY getting what he deserves, I cant really get excited until he’s convicted and sentenced to proper jail time.

Just because he’s been charged doesn’t mean he’ll be convicted…I have a funny feeling he’s gonna beat this case and walk away free..This is Florida the home of Casey Anthony…still praying for the Martin family.
