Many still outraged over the seemingly unprovoked killing of Trayvon Martin has been hit yet again with another killing of a young unarmed African American male in Pasadena California.
Two police officers were responding to a 911 call made by Oscar Carillo who stated two armed men robbed him of his laptop and backpack while one held a gun to his head. He described the teens as African American boys with black sweaters.
Minutes later, the officers saw 19-year-old Kendric McDade running on the streets and when they blocked his path with a police cruiser he allegedly grabbed at his waistband. The officers then immediately opened fire shooting McDade multiple times; he later died at a nearby hospital.
McDade had no stolen items on his possession nor was he armed. When police questioned Carillo about the 911 call he admitted that the teens did not have any weapons and said that they did so the police would respond faster. He was booked into the city jail on the suspicion of manslaughter and is being held on $25,000 bail.
Only similarities between Martin and McDade is that they were both African American unarmed teens who were wrongly gunned downed. However, Oscar Carillo definitely set the stage for this to get out of control and falsely reporting that the teens were armed is what ultimately cost McDade his life.
Just another senseless shooting of an African American teen. Will it ever stop?
