Portia Simpson Miller, 66, is the 7th and 10th Prime Minister of Jamaica. January. 5, 2012 marked her recent inauguration where she represents the people’s national party. However being Prime minister isn’t enough, she also holds the positions of minister of development, information, defense and sports. Simpson-Miller became the first head of government in Jamaican history to formally endorse civil rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens during an election campaign. She has reportedly pledged to turn Jamaica into a republic as part of the fiftieth anniversary of the island’s independence.
