Amanda Clayton, from Lincoln Park Michigan, won a lottery jackpot worth $1,000,000 but still uses her benefits card to buy $200 worth of food every month. How is this possible you ask? When you apply or reapply for government assistance they determine how much to give you based off your income.
Well, lottery earnings are not required to be reported when listing a resident’s income. Lawmakers in the House of Representatives are currently working on approving a legislation that will require a person to do so.
Clayton told the media that she is still struggling to make ends meet despite her two houses and brand new car. “I mean, I have no income and I have bills to pay, I have two houses.
I’m still struggling”, she said earlier this week. It’s nice to know tax dollars are going to millionaires.
What do you think Spitters? Is this considered stealing?
