Kevin and Elizabeth Schatz are now in jail after beating their seven-year-old adopted daughter, Lydia Schatz, to death and severely beating her sister, eleven-year-old Zariah Schatz, who had to be hospitalized.

Lydia was so brutally beaten she died from a condition only related with earthquakes and bombings. Mr. and Mrs. Schatz said they beat their children regularly and claim God wanted them to discipline their children and used the popular book “To Train Up Your Child” as a guide.

Authorities say this was not discipline it was torture and murder by parents who were supposed to love and care for the child. Lydia was beaten for seven hours with a 15 inch plumbing supply tool that resembles a steel rod.

The family resided in Paradise California with their 9 children, six Caucasian and three African American. All of the children are presently in foster care. Kevin Schatz received 22 years behind bars while Elizabeth Schatz only received 12.

The reason of the seven hour beating/torture session? Lydia, who is from Liberia, mispronounced a word during the homeschool session.
