A home sperm-counting kit called SpermCheck Fertility, is set to hit stores starting in April of this year. The $40 test is already available at Walgreen’s and CVS online only at this time. The test kit is very simple, affordable and favores a quick pick up at your nearest drug store, rather than taking the time to make an appointment with your doctor. In order to use, a man has to mix his semen with a solution in the kit and then drops it onto a test strip.

A reddish line indicates a sperm count of 20 million per milliliter and beyond, which will be considered average and quite normal. A negative test shows no color; thereby instructing to consult a physician about a complete evaluation, according to the kit’s instructions.

Maeve Egner of Fusion Marketing, the company hired to help market SpermCheck, simply says “There is nothing like it on the shelf,” SpermCheck, “It’s plugging a gap.”

Researchers and doctors claim that while a low sperm count might trigger a problem and make a man panic, sperm count is only one aspect of male fertility. Other factors that needs to be considered are the number of sperm, shape, mobility, and the volume of ejaculation. Therefore a man can have a very low sperm count (15 million per milliliter or lower), however if the other three factors are in place, then it won’t be an issue for a sperm to fertilize an egg.

Now who’s ready for the baby making? Just make sure you have enough dozes and if not a credit card swipe is online minutes away from knowing about your spermcheck fertility.
