Inmate Juan Ramirez Tijerina, is serving a 20 year sentence after his girlfriend tried to escape him from prison by hiding him in a suitcase curled up in a fetal position following a conjugal visit in Chetumal, Mexico.

A spokesman for police in the Caribbean state of Quintana Roo stated that Arjona, Ramirez’s girlfriend, seemed nervous, suspicious and was pulling a black, wheeled suitcase that looked bulky.

Gerardo Campos, a spokesman checked the bag of 19-year-old Maria del Mar Arjona, only to find inmate Juan Ramirez Tijerina curled up inside the bag.

Currently Ramirez is serving a 20-year sentence for for illegal weapons possession. His girlfriend was also arrested and charges against her are still pending.
