Jesus, please take the wheel on this because I cant’ seem to comprehend the irony and the contradiction in the sentence alone. Atheist and worship? Isn’t that like trying to mix oil and water? I mean atheists have long attacked devout followers of faith. But now the same people that attack faith are the very ones who are now building a temple of worship.
According to DeZeen magazine in the U.K., Alaian de Botton is announcing his plans to build an Atheist temple. I’m scratching my head. For what exactly? Who are they going to worship if they dont believe in anything?
Anyways the temple will be built in London, scaling in at 46 meters (150 ft) with each centimeter honoring the Earth’s age of 4.6 billion years. de Botton has also released a book “Religion for Atheists,” which the author points to design, art and community to inspire and attract a following. To him, a place of worship isn’t enough for Atheists to benefit from as he thinks his book can draw inspiration as well. Though de Botton has yet to announce a final date for opening the temple, he hopes to create a network of such buildings across the U.K.
I would really like for someone to explain to me what exactly are you going to do in this place of worship. Who are they really worshiping since they don’t believe in a higher being or are they just gathering to mock and put down devout religious people?
What are your thoughts and ideas on this?
