I absolutely adore children so this story is doing nothing short of slowly breaking some part of my heart. I don’t understand how a mother can do this to her child and after reading this, I’m sure you won’t be able to either. Police have accused Shayna Williams, a 20 year old native of Yonkers, of abandoning her 1 year old daughter. Williams left her daughter on her ex-boyfriend’s porch late Wednesday night in freezing temperatures. She has been charged with reckless endangerment in the 2nd degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
But really what is going through your mind as a mother to leave your baby on a porch in the winter time? What was more important than her child? Here’s what makes the story even more interesting.William’s ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend stated that Williams came to their home with the baby but told Williams she couldn’t leave her daughter at the house because the baby’s father was not home.
The girlfriend closed the door but 20 minutes later heard a child crying and discovered the girl on the uncovered porch in an unsecured stroller, “shivering from the cold and with a soiled diaper,” according to police. The outside temperature at the time was 20 degrees.
In addition to the charges being currently held against her, she had outstanding warrants on second-degree aggravated harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, petty larceny and fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana.
