The rumors are true, looks like pop singer Katy Perry and Russell Brand have filed for divorce today. In the docs, filed in L.A., Brand cites “irreconcilable differences.” The two were married Oct. 23, 2010 in India.

The engagement and marriage was a bit rushed so are we really surprised? The divorce docs mention “community property assets” which could be a huge sign that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement.

Russell has released a statement, claiming, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.” The recently separated couple got engaged two years ago to the day.

I hope Katy knew that Russell was filing for divorce. That would be one hell of an anniversary surprise.
