When i think about Michael Jordan getting engaged to his long time girlfriend Yvette prieto, the question that comes in my mind is why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? Apparently Jordan has not learned his lesson from his previous divorce which cost him a small change of $168 million.

The average person will not even see a quarter of that amount in their lifetime, let alone from a divorce. Maybe Jordan has not seen the common pattern that has been going on for a while, where significant other’s of a well known athlete pretends to have somewhat of an interest beyond money; only to find out later that they were patiently waiting for their downfall, only to capitalize on their hard earned money.

Let’s be honest here and i’m not making any excuses for these athletes or their behaviors; however being a high profile athlete brings a lot of women around. Whether their intentions are good or bad it still does and in most cases their intentions are not of a good cause. Tiger woods, Kobe Bryant are just a few athletes that were not smart in dealing with their side “pieces” which in turn came to haunt them later on down the line.

What happened next is what has become a common trend where their side pieces finally decide to expose them for the fifteen minutes fame and a little bit of finances that comes with it. The humiliation continues as their wives divorce them only to take half of their money and still pay for child support? I know i went a little bit left to what this article is all about but you can see the correlation that i’m trying to make. I just hope that Michael Jordan being engaged to longtime girlfriend Yvette Prieto, a Cuban-American model he’s been dating for three years is just that, an engagement and nothing more.

Who am I to speak on their relationship since I don’t know the depth of it. Some part of me feels like she’s only in this for the money but hey who am I to judge? I’m only on the outside looking in. All I’m saying is that if he decides to marry her and things hit the fan, will she decide to remain loyal or go after his hard earned fortune? He might want to look at Kobe for example.

This will be Jordan’s second marriage. He married Juanita Vanoy in September 1989, and they divorced in 2006. They have two sons, Jeffrey Michael and Marcus James, and a daughter, Jasmine.
