P Diddy, Jermaine Dupri and Bono amongst countless of other artists said it best in the song “What’s Going On” when they said, “People dying, people crying. Lord help us…oh mother, mother, mother there’s way too many of you crying….” And now there’s a new mother that this statement hold true because last night a Bowie State University student was fatally stabbed by her roommate.
I mean I’ve had my fair share of conflicts with some of my roommates while I was in college but it never got to the point where we wanted to kill each other. It’s sad that what started out as an argument escalated into a physical confrontation ultimately resulting in one party getting stabbed.
Dominique T. Frazier, 18, of Washington, DC, died after she was stabbed by her roommate, a 19-year-old District Heights woman, who is also a student at the university, according to Maryland State Police. The 19-year-old turned herself in to police custody around midnight, but isn’t being named by police until charges are filed against her.
“Bowie State University is saddened by the tragic death of a student who was fatally stabbed in an altercation with another student in the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community (CMRC) at about 8 p.m. Thursday evening,” a statement from the university said.
Just after 8 p.m. Thursday, Prince George’s County Police responded to the report of a cutting in the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community building on the campus in the 14000 block of Jericho Park Road. University police officers were also notified and arrived first on the scene.
Officers found Frazier in the hallway of the building, bleeding and unconscious, according to police. Frazier was taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead around 8:44 p.m.
Officers from Maryland State Police and Bowie State University Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident and remain on the scene in the second floor of the residence hall, where they will be processing evidence and interviewing witnesses today, according to police.
It’s like nowadays you can’t even send your child away to school to get an education without there being a thought in your mind that they might not come back home. Honestly don’t know what this world is coming to where people are resulting to violence to solve their issues but people need to stop being so sensitive about issues and resolve things like adults. Otherwise there are going to be a lot of these situations happening and I don’t know about you but I’m getting sick and tired of hearing that one of our peers has lost their life to something so irrelevant and stupid.
