YES for Mama Africa. There has been a new victory established for Africa as Miss Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universerse 2011 as of last night.

89 contestants from around the world competed for the crown as over 1 billion viewers tuned in to watch the Angola native gain the title of Miss Universe. Miss Lopes is said to be a business management major studying in the UK and was recently crowned Miss Angola UK in 2010.

Being crowned winner of Miss Universe, she comes the first Angolan Miss Universe. She is now the fourth African woman to win the title, with Miss Mpule Kwelabobe from Botswana holding the title of Miss Universe 1999.
