Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia are plagued by an unrelenting drought and famine, and, according to an international aid agency, millions are at risk of dying.

More than 12 million people have been severely affected by the worst drought in 60 years. A camp set up in  Dadaab, Somalia is, in fact, the largest refugee camp in the world; at the beginning of the crisis, it was home to 380,00 people, and is currently experiencing 1,600 new arrivals every day.

There has been out source of help from all over the world. The Britist group Oxfam has urge the rest of the Africans and African nations to donate more.

African governments have been inadequate, with only South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Sudan making contributions.

Citizens in South Africa and Kenya are contributing money and food to the aid efforts in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia, but that overall the response from Africa has been too small.

Namibia donated $500,000, while South African was able to donate $1 million. Africa needs to take matters into our hands and help out our people we can’t constantly depend on foreign aid all the time.

The United States has been the biggest international donor to famine relief efforts, with about $580 million in aid this year. Britain is the second-biggest donor at $205 million, followed by Japan and Australia. Saudi Arabia is next at $60 million. It is the biggest donor from the Muslim world.

As an African i urge all my people to raise and show the foreign world, we are our brothers keeper.
