A bunch of mix tapes gets released, and then finally, the album comes along. Cause they’re Finally Famous right? Big Sean definitely took a different route on this album compared to his previous mix tapes. It all started with the radio friendly “My Last” with Breezy, which would be the first single.
Then he introduces us to “I Do It,” which is my favorite track off the album, featuring the flow from him that we’ve seen in the past. In my opinion, this is one of his best songs that he’s made. Every track on here has amazing production; lyrics are on point with numerous witty one liners. His unique flow and crazy word play proves to the masses that he definitely has star qualities and staying power.
Calling your first album Finally Famous, regardless of how many previous mix tapes and current stars you collaborate with, does come off a little on the cocky side. However, that’s just Sean being Sean. With an album that highlights the lowlights and vice-versa of being an MC, Big Sean has crafted an effort that makes room for him on the rap spectrum.
Whether that’s temporary or the start of an established star has yet to be seen. Finally famous? Well, famous enough. I’m giving this 4 out of 5 stars. Must Buy!
