Talk about selfish and cruel, a Pennsylvania man was arrested and charged with killing his newborn daughter by dropping a cinderblock on her head. The reason: He and his girlfriend couldn’t afford another child.
According to police, on May 28, Christopher Fitzpatrick’s girlfriend began experiencing labor pains while the couple and Christopher’s 11-year-old sister were inside a grocery store.
Christopher, not too happy about this whole ordeal, allegedly told Jennifer Barrise, “Have this f*cking baby.I just want to get rid of it. I gotta do what I gotta do.” Jennifer then asked him twice if he intended to kill their baby, but she never received a response. (That wouldn’t even warrant for me to wait for a response. If that was even a question that was brought up for discussion, she REALLY should’ve evaluated her relationship right there and then and got out while she still had the chance.)
The three returned to their car in the parking lot of the grocery store where Barrise gave birth to an apparently healthy baby girl, who landed on the floor of the car. None of the three touched the crying baby.
Later that day, Fitzpatrick took the baby to his job, a lawn care business, where he dropped a cinderblock twice on the baby’s head, killing the newborn. Christopher and Jennifer already had a 1-year-old boy together. She’s also reportedly has had 5 other children by different men.
According to the Times-Tribune, the next day at a family gathering, Christopher’s sister told her parents that Jennifer had given birth in the car. Parents, Scott and Michelle Fitzpatrick, questioned their son for an answer and according to him, he told them that he had taken the baby to a local hospital. However Chris later confessed to state troopers what he had done and ultimately led them to where the baby was buried.
That poor baby. She didn’t even have the chance to fight. How inconsiderate and selfish are you that you can stare innocence in the face and just take its life away? As for the poor baby, it’s bad enough knowing your parents didn’t want you however it’s another thing when your parents hate you enough to kill you without letting 24 hours pass on your life. If they knew they couldn’t afford the baby, why kill her?
He could’ve put her up for adoption and to not have Jennifer go through the whole pregnancy process just for this to happen. Let’s even backtrack for a moment. If they knew they couldn’t afford her, why get her pregnant in the first place? Granted, accidents happen but the child shouldn’t have to suffer for your mistake. That’s not fair. For his sake, I hope he can live with what he did because that’s a heavy burden to have upon your life for the rest of your life.
