While the class of 2011 is graduating college with about $22,900, the new average and the most indebted ever, one individual doesn’t seem to drop that amount plus more on a wedding. But thing is, it’s not even HER wedding, but get this: her dog’s. Yea I know; the look on your face after reading that sentence is the same I had when I got a hold of this. Matter of fact, I just rolled my eyes, looked up and asked God, “Really? COME ON now” as I shook my head with a smile on my face. But I guess money is not an issue for Louise Harris, a 32 year old woman who’s the owner to 6-year old Lola, a Yorkshire Terrier. Louise has admitted spending thousands on birthdays, designer outfits and bespoke outfits for Lola.
But now Louise has taken it a step further, spending more than most humans couples do on their nuptials, to put together Britain’s most expensive dog wedding. Louise invited 80 guests to the lavish ceremony to watch Lola tie the knot with Mugly a Chinese Crested, who holds the title of the UK’s ugliest dog after first winning the title in 2005. (She could’ve at least have Lola marry someone cute…I mean after all, she has to wake up to that face for the rest of her life). The event was held in an outdoor marquee in the grounds of a mansion in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, which cost $3,619 for the venue alone. She also spent $1,447 on decorative flowers, $4,342 on designers to decorate the marquee, $580 for her own personal wedding planner, and even $579 for security guards. Louise, who owns two other Yorkshire Terriers, Lulu, four, and two-year-old Larry, said: “I wanted Lola to have the perfect day.”
With all due respect to Louise, which at this point is slim to none, why invest that much money into something with no type of return to you? It’s cute (in some weird way) that you want to marry your dog off but I mean COME ON. As stated earlier, most college students in the US are graduating with an amount of debt that you’re spending on your dog. That money could’ve gone into something wiser such as a charity or a non-profit organization. There are millions of people starving worldwide, which could help aid that as well. Also that money could’ve also been sent to help Japan out or even the people here in the US with all the recent disasters that are happening in the world. This really goes to show where certain people’s priorities lie but hey, I’m not even mad at her (much). After all it’s her money. My thing is if she’s willing to spend that amount of money on her dog, I wonder if she’s willing to fund towards my wedding someday.
