Everyone was questioning whether or not Beyonce would be able to top her best single to date “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”. Earlier this week “Run The World (Girls)” was leaked and has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue ever since.
Yesterday they released the official track and it has been getting very mixed reviews. Entertainment Weekly notes the continuation of her past themes but hopes she will switch lanes content wise. Other articles are puzzled saying it’s an unconventional choice for a lead single.
Personally, the best article I read about Beyonce’s new single comes from Vulture stating, “The track is kind of a monster-aggressive and intense and totally committed in all the ways you’d hope for the first big move in a new promo run from one of our most cherished pop stars.”
The track is a bit chaotic with a three part chorus, a sample from Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor” and a now-and-again melody that doesn’t last for longer than ten seconds.
Obviously a dance record I’m predicting major success and an album from Beyonce that will top her previous one “I am Sasha Fierce.”
Like everyone else I was taken aback when I first heard the track and had to listen to it again. When I realized I could not get the song or the beat out of my head I knew this would be the anthem to every girl’s summer.
